COMMUNITY CHRONIC DISEASE PREVENTION (CCDP)
WORKSITE INTERVENTION: PILOT STUDY.
FEBRUARY 2015 - APRIL 2015

A 6-week pilot intervention for health promotion and disease prevention to ameliorate chronic risk factors for disease, such as for cardiovascular disease (CVD) using a nutrient-dense, plant-rich (NDPR) dietary pattern that have been shown to be effective at preventing and improving chronic-disease conditions, including CVD. The study's aim was to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of an NDPR dietary intervention for worksites to lower CVD risk factors.

WORKSITE INTERVENTION: PHASE 1

A twelve-week study is to evaluate the health and wellness outcomes of a program that involves adjusting daily food choices to a nutrient-dense whole foods plant based diet. Based on the protocol established by the research team, individuals followed a structured and informative plan to increase micronutrient and phytochemical consumption among participants. Pre and post biometrics were evaluated to compare the changes in lipids, BMI,
waist circumference to diet quality.

WORKSITE INTERVENTION: PHASE 2

Studied the impact of a nutrient dense whole food diet to address weight reduction, lipid management, inflammation reduction, perceptions of hunger, and overall health and longevity for Northern Arizona Healthcare, Northern Arizona University and Health Choice Integrated Care employees, spouses and adult dependents.

WORKSITE INTERVENTION: PHASE 3
 

A collaborative effort among Northern Arizona University and Northern Arizona Healthcare to improve the health of employees by adopting a plant rich diet. Primary objectives are to assess the effect of a nutrient-dense diet on weight management, lipid management, mental health, sleep, GERD (acid reflux), work productivity, and pain.
